Technique : Ancient Gold Forming
Making Process (in detail) :

  1. Gold Melting : In the crucible, melt pure gold. the gold is easy to mold due to its high flexibility. The process still necessitates the use of traditional instruments such as Goldsmith Bench, anvils, hammers, scissors, blower stick etc.
  2. Forming gold : Removing gold from a mold and having it forged. Use the largest anvil with a rectangular cross sectional area. Forging requires the use of the largest iron hammer. Using an unequal weight while forging will result in an uneven surface of the gold. Forging can be done using both sides of a hammer.
  3. Assembly welding : Bring all assembled parts, such as gold sheets, coils, and fish roe, to the assembly welding. Multiple processes are used, such as weaving, bending, hammering, etching, gem embedding, etc.
  4. The decorations : The decorative detail is the unique feature of Phetchaburi gold ornaments. The making techniques necessitates the use of gold fish roe and gold filing.
  5. Boiling and dyeing : After obtaining gold ornaments, have them boiled and dyed to eliminate any borax that could have been left around the edges or corners during the process of creating gold ornaments. In terms of gold dyeing, this technique is used to brighten the gold for a more gleaming appearance.
