Recognizing the value of cultural heritage, wisdom, and craftsmanship that is deeply rooted in communities in all regions of Thailand, the Sustainable Arts and Crafts Institute of Thailand (Public Organization), or sacit, has initiated the creation of handicraft learning through community life by developing the original learning resources of the Master Artisans of Thailand, Master Craftsmen, and Craftsmanship Descendants, who transfer knowledge including connecting neighborhoods surrounded and develop into "sacit Craft Communities". Currently, there are 38 communities nationwide to support creative tourism activities that benefit participants, community members, including other concerned people.
The key of the "Craft Learning Community" is to preserve the skills and knowledge of handicrafts, as well as the way of life and identity of the surrounding communities, to utilize this mechanism to strengthen the local area and create awareness of the value that can be extended to the added value of craftsmanship, which will eventually lead to a process of inheritance and sustainable development.
